And history is no laughing matter, either. Millions of people have died in wars in history. Not to mention how corrupt leaders and people throughout history can be. And yet hetalia, an anime with five seasons, a webcomic, and various manga(s? i don’t know the plural of manga oops), is a joking series about history (and countries in general) and has not been stopped yet. I know RBS is innacurate, but so is hetalia. Heck, you could have a comedic anime about terminal illnesses. Red Band Society isn’t completely accurate, sure, but neither is any tv show, where’s the fun in that? And it’s actually a lot less inaccurate, offensive and bad taste than a lot of the shows out there. I think it’s raising awareness, in a way, that just because something serious happened to you doesn’t mean you spend the rest of your recovery/life moping around because you know you might die. You can have a little fun, one way or another. As I said in my “two page essay”, it’s not a documentary. I mean, I take history very seriously and love hetalia, as silly and unrealistic as it can be. It’s the same for RBS; I take serious injuries and illnesses seriously, but I still love the show so far, even if it is a little unrealistic.

Chronic and terminal illnesses are not meant to be fun or seen as fun. This show is an abomination, my best friend has cystic fibrosis, I have mental illness, we have both been hospitalized. Hospital life is not like that and it damages people's perspective of us and our illnesses. This show really needs to be stopped.
